Project context and summary :
Concerns are growing over urban drinking-water quality due to an inefficient management infrastructure in most low-income countries. Outbreaks of waterborne were linked to extreme climatic events, despite that the causal relationship between change on rainfall patterns, temperature rise and drinking water microbial quality is complex, involving an interplay of the type of water supply, water source and water treatment technology. Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar is witnessing rapid urbanization, growing by additional 100,000 new inhabitants a year, that is increasing the already acute pressure on infrastructure and deficient local services. . Water supply date back to the colonial period (1952) and is outpaced by urban expansion and population growth. Consequently, home connections are still limited and a network of around 900 standpipes supply un-piped households. Weekly analyses of the water quality are conducted in our laboratory on behalf of the Commune urbaine d’Antananarivo. The aim of this project is to analyse the time serie of theses data in relation with rainfalls , to provide advise on the way to condut water purification in relation with climat condtions
